5 Stars, 5 Apprentices: Certified Quality as a Magnet for Talent

While many hotels in Germany choose not to seek official classification, the Neumühle Resort & SPA has deliberately taken a different approach—and is being rewarded for it: Since being officially certified as a 5-star hotel in early 2025, a surprising side effect of the designation has quickly become apparent. Hotel Director Christoph Hoenig reports a noticeable shift in the training market: “With the fifth star, we suddenly saw even more interest from young talent. The award acts like a magnet—it attracts people who seek excellence and want to help shape the future.” Starting in September, four new apprentices will begin their training at the Neumühle Resort & SPA—two in the kitchen and two in hotel management. All are from Bavaria, and three are even from the local region. Together with an existing second-year hotel management apprentice, the apprentice team will grow to five young professionals.
